Are you hesitant about going the electric way, worried about long-distance travel, range anxiety, or the unpredictability of finding charging stations? Well, Citroen aims to help ease those concerns in the rear-view mirror with its new trip planner, e-ROUTES, developed in partnership with Free2move Charge. This potent new tool promises to make your electric journeys smoother than a freshly paved highway.
Engineered with an advanced routing algorithm, e-ROUTES is like your personal navigation wizard. By assimilating real-time data from your vehicle and leveraging its connected navigation system, e-ROUTES promises reliable and personalized travel solutions, making your trip a breeze and recharging a non-issue.
This groundbreaking (according to Citroen) trip planner is compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Expected to hit the digital highways from October, e-ROUTES comes as a part of the 'CONNECT PLUS Pack' for all new buyers of Citroen's e-C4 and e-C4 X, free of charge for the first 12 months. That's enough time for you to get you hooked on it and then hit you with a subscription - that's right. Citroen wants to be the Netflix of the EV world.
Here's what sets e-ROUTES apart. It fetches real-time vehicle data and suggests the best possible route based on the availability and status of charging stations on it. The application even takes into account factors like the quantity and characteristics of the terminals at each station and the availability of charging points.
Thanks to the integration with the car, it shares crucial vehicle data, such as battery state, energy use, charging mode, and air temperature, to offer specific insights like predicted range and charge level on arrival. All this information, available over the air, offers direct access to essential data without the need for additional devices.
There's real time guidance with traffic information, and a comprehensive set of travel services, all running on up-to-date, high-quality maps. Speed limits and road closures are also available.
Using e-ROUTES requires logging into your MyCitroen account and then you can access the application via your smartphone or the car's touchscreen, thanks to the mirroring function.
With Citroen's e-C4 and e-C4 X already offering decent battery size, Citroen now aims to improve the travel experience.
And if you don't own a Citroen, you can always use the Free2move or MapFactor, both available for Android and iOS.
