Kia

Kia's Supercharger access saga has just entered a new chapter today. To recap - Kia EVs in North America were supposed to get access to Tesla Superchargers starting on January 15. That didn't happen, however, with the brand quietly changing its wording on the matter from that specific date to a much more vague "first quarter".

That ends on March 31, and today Kia has issued a new update on this. Its EVs will have access to Tesla Superchargers at some point in March. So that's a six-week delay at a minimum, or closer to ten weeks in the worst case scenario, and it's a delay that still hasn't been explained by Kia in any way.

In a bit of good news, Kia dealers are now starting to receive the NACS adapter you'll need in order to use those Superchargers. The adapter will be free if you bought your EV6 or EV9 from early September 2024 onwards. If you got yours earlier than that, then you'll need to purchase the adapter.

Kia says the adapters are "engineered to meet Tesla's charging specifications and have been developed and tested for use" with Kia EVs. It cautions that "use of other adapters may result in repairs that are not covered by Kia's warranty".
