Tesla

The much-anticipated Tesla Cybertruck has finally made its way to a second market - Canada. It starts at CAD 137,990 ($100,500) for the All-Wheel Drive Foundation Series and CAD 165,990 ($121,000) for the Cyberbeast Foundation Series.

Tesla opted to maintain consistent pricing across the border, essentially converting US prices directly into Canadian dollars.

Currently, only the limited-edition Foundation Series is available for configuration, which includes a suite of premium features and options bundled together for an additional CAD 20,000 ($14,600). Coupled with additional taxes and fees, means that the final cost can easily exceed CAD 150,000 (nearly $110,000).

For those with even deeper pockets, there's the Cyberbeast Tri-Motor All-Wheel Drive version with an impressive 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph. This performance comes at CAD 165,990 ($121,000), before taxes. After factoring in all the additional fees and taxes, the final cost quickly climbs over CAD 200,000 ($145,700).

Compared to other electric pickup trucks on the market, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the Cybertruck's price point is significantly higher. The F-150 Lightning ranges from CAD 59,995 to CAD 110,495 ($43,700 to $80,500), while the Silverado EV is from CAD 75,000 to CAD 118,000 ($54,700 to $86,000).

While the Cybertruck's futuristic design and impressive performance figures are undoubtedly appealing, the steep price tag will likely limit its popularity in Canada. For those eagerly awaiting a more affordable option, the lower-cost rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck is not expected to be available until 2025. In the meantime, Tesla is ramping up production at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, and expanding availability to Canada and Mexico. Deliveries in Canada are expected to begin between October and November 2024.
