Volkswagen

According to Volkswagen the chip shortages that have been plagued the automotive industry for the past over a year, are finally coming to an end. Those prevented manufacturing from running as planned, causing huge delays and price spikes, but we are finally about to catch a break.

The German car manufacturer has revealed that there has been "constant progress" in the supply of microchips, and they predict that vehicle production will become more steady later in the year.

We've previously heard the same sentiment expressed by Nio and more recently the American Chip Trade association CTA has said the same. Nevertheless, Volkswagen acknowledges that a percentage of the production will continue to be affected by the chip shortage in 2023 and the company plans to address it.

Since 2020, the lack of enough chips has been a significant problem for the automobile industry, which pushed waiting times to over a year in some cases. This, in turn, caused a spike in prices for available and second-hand vehicles as many customers just couldn't afford to wait that long.

Volkswagen is determined to do everything in its power to cut delivery times for its customers even further and is working as quickly as possible to clear the order backlog.

Obviously this will take some time, but the good news is we are finally moving in the right direction, instead of falling further and further behind.
