Volkswagen VW

To say that VW's transition to electric cars has been fraught with issues would be a rather amusing understatement, but the company is trying to make its EVs better, and the ID.3 Neo is part of that effort.

The next ID.3 won't just be called ID.3, it will be the ID.3 Neo to very obviously signify that it's new and improved. This will be fully revealed next month.

Until then, we get some information about it. It's using the new Innovision infotainment system which has a built-in app store, and will support an optional digital key. It also has buttons on the steering wheel - actual buttons.

The ID.3 Neo supports vehicle-to-load up to 3.6kW, using a 230V socket inside the car or (with an adapter) via the mode 3 connection of the charging socket. Additionally, it has an enhanced Travel Assist system with traffic light detection as well as one pedal driving.

Meanwhile, the ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7 can already be ordered with the new infotainment system, as well as all the other ID.3 Neo features described above. Furthermore, the ID.4 and ID.5 Pure entry-level models are now equipped with the APP 350 motor, developing 140kW (190 PS) of power with increased torque and lower consumption compared to the APP 310 it's replacing.

The new motor has extended the ID.4's range by up to 25 miles, working together with the new 58kWh net capacity LFP battery.
