IMHO, they should drop more than a name, most of the EQ vehicles are so badly designed, they pretty much should drop all of these concepts and start from a scratch.
Savagegeese had a nice video regarding these cars ;)

I prefer EV variant blend in regular A-B-C-E-S classes like petrol/diesel/EV options but,as far as I know,combustion and EV cars cannot share the same platform due to efficiency concerns.an EV car platform should be designed from scratch to place batteries and motors perfectly in order to perform and handle well.

They already dropped the EQ branding from their F1 cars and engines since the start of 2021, so I think this has been long time coming. New cars and engines now uses 'E' branding, as in Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance. So we could see that branding instead.
