That's a lot more than €100000 negative publicity for Hyundai. It sends a huge warning about their corporate behaviour.
Sadly, this is the reality for any ancient or poorly available tech on the market - any repair or even basic maintenance might prove quite expensive - especially if the tech is made by a car manufacturer that refuses to provide log term support.
I was honestly quite surprised Toyota still sells batteries for second gen. Prius, there are even a ton of alternatives (often better than old OEM).
