china is not a nightmare for germans. they dominate premium segment everywhere they go. just the other way around. 199 countries outside of china is the nightmare for chinese brands. partnership with mercedes will definitely improve EQS series on tech side (may even let them produce cheaper models) but, nio needs a ticket to be a global player, too. mercedes may have a limited existence in EV because, they have only luxurious EV models. actually, they check all the boxes of premium car standards.

Well, when you look at current plugins and EVs made by Mercedes, this merger could not be a bad thing.
Mercedes makes one of the worst EVs on the market, while Nio technical side is probably really good, but they lack the capital as they evolved on Chinese market where the competition is so fierce German brand can only dream of (and have nightmares).
