AEV, 19 Aug 2024Lane-keeping systems are actually dangerous. If someone ran in front of you, it will force you... moreNo, they do no such thing. They will emergency brake. Hardly any drivers are capable of taking evasive action correctly in such circumstances as you do not know what the pedestrian or cyclist will do. Lane keeping can be manually overridden and stops working at town speeds anyway.
Almost as if hundreds of vehicle engineers know more about it than you do.

Don't call it beep.
The car tries to speak with driver or the passenger.
But yeah to understand that "beep" language, you need to learn the language first.
So, don't waste time.
Go and try learning "beep" language.

Lol!!!

Lane-keeping systems are actually dangerous. If someone ran in front of you, it will force you smash him because you didn't turn on blinker.

What would it take to remove all the lawyer disclaimers on the sun visors, and click-to-agree start-up screens? Maybe a court ruling that such disclaimers cannot remove liability and instead are an admission of a known problem.

A mandate requiring the de-bundling of the human-right to opt-out of cabin-cameras, disable location-tracking, block speed-collection, and/or generally turn-off data-collection from any other user-desirable online-services, would be reasonable and timely. A clarification requiring more user-ability for granular adjustment of settings that are not reset each time the vehicle starts should be updated for each of those regulations.

Please mandate adjustments be easily adjusted by the owner rather than requiring a dealer. And please just outright ban beeping the horn when locking and/or unlocking doors. Use a recall for all vehicles to reprogram all beeps to default to no-beep and allow users to adjust all settings directly without a dealer, cryptic factory mode, or tool.

Excellent posting, thank you.

We left the EU because of things like this yet all new cars in the UK have these features fitted. They should be removed as we don’t have to follow EU laws!
