Accidents due to driver sleeping, drunk, texting, panicking, jumping the signal, over speeding can all be avoided with AI. So no doubt it is better

TBH, you can sugar coat it all you want, make a ton of excuses, but let's be honest a lot of drivers are utterly terrible and that is coming from a European driver, in the US the driving skill level is so low, it's hard for me to even comprehend.
Even a half lobotomized ADAS drives better than most of the humans, let alone AI assisted one.

Yeah, I had a pretty rough week behind the wheel and my faith in humanity dropped considerably.
