Anonymous, 05 Aug 2025If this is true then consider xiaomi automobile company dead. Dead to who? You? No one cares about you and especially not Xiaomi, when they don't even sell cars globally and I assume you are not from China.

First of all, It's the customers fault for not reading the contract but just signing It and then cry how "unfair" It is.

Second, If they already paid the deposit, then I assume they want this car, meaning they still have to pay the full amount at some point of time.
The only difference is they already have to pay before the delivery.
If the existing customers don't like this, then they can cancel the order, RMB 5,000 is honestly not a big amount.

So in the end the only problem(controversy) is that the customers have to pay sooner than they expected, because they didn't read what they signed.
Don't really see how this would damage the trust in the brand, in my opinion car issues are actually what damages the trust in a car brand. At most It would leave a bad impression for potential new buyers, but this is also pretty questionable, because If they want the car then they have to buy It either way.

In my opinion, they shouldn't have asked the full amount but let's say ~25% a month before delivery, this way Xiaomi will know that yes, the buyer won't cancel the order and they won't have an unsold car and the customer also doesn't need to pay the full amount for something they won't receive for some time.

How can Xiaomi make such a demand? The answer lies in the purchase agreement that customers must accept to secure their order. Buried within the terms and conditions is a clause that gives Xiaomi the right to request the final payment at any point, based on its own "vehicle production arrangements or sales situations."

Som its been stated in papers. If someone did not read it in full its his problem not Xiaomi.
They only doing whats good for bussiness.
From a 600 eur innitial pay nobody will make a 35k vehicle.
If they had the money for preorder they sould have also money for remaining cash which needs to be paid before delivery.

Its simple as that.
Please people stop being cowards. Stoúp acting like cowards.
And ulimately stop whinning when its your failure you did not read full statement.
