Dreadful design + Musk. Seems like a pretty simple explanation to me. Not to mention, what about the guy that got into a car crash and basically got cremated in this steel trap.

I'd say, a major factor in the sales failure is the litany of broken promises:
- Lower towing ability
- Lower carrying capacity
- Lower range
- Higher price

Add to that, the litany of woes for owners:
- Rusting
- Failing adhesives
- Target for vandalism

Lucky Lopez, a YouTuber, created a video explaining all these and then some more.

The sales are way worse than they look. Nearly 40% of the sales were to Tesla itself, SpaceX and XAI, with a bunch more at huge discounts to their employees.

Tesla stopped selling the rear while drive version of the Cybertruck weeks ago. It is no longer an option. I don't know how we are supposed to trust this article when it can't even get extremely well-known obvious facts straight....

Not just the strange design: it was driven by Musk's childish desire rather than a real market need (it can't even be sold in most of the world because it doesn't satisfy safety requirements), and as is his way he massively over-promised and under-delivered. Its abject failure is entirely down to him, something that in any normal company would have resulted in him being ejected.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2025It's ugly and no one wants to pay so much for an ugly car. At least no one sane or they have some niche use for It.
