Glmo, 16 Feb 2026Kia ev9 GT has 300kw 3C charging. Check Kia website you will find the number thereIf your cells can 3C, doesn't mean your packs or BMS can. Real world tests and actual charging claims made on that same KIA site show a more realistic picture.

Charging 10-80 at 350 kW charger for 24 minutes does not mean 3.5C charging. It doesn't try to - it says "if you plug into this charger, this is how long it will take". And if you do the calculus, I know its hard for muric@nts, given the pack size of 100 kWh and 24 min from 10% to 80% you will arrive to actual average charging speeds of around 175 kW.

EV9 with 75 kWh pack has peak charging of 175 kW (average 10 to 80 is 160 kW), 100 kWh pack gets 235 kW peak (average 10-80 is 206 kW). That is below 3C and is not limited by the cells, rather the BMS. This is consistent with NCM based cells used and KIA's priority for easier maintenance - EVs trying to go 3C or faster usually come with more expensive cooling liquid changes. On the sentiment of Toyota peddling overpriced and underfeatured stuff, can't argue on that.

Highlander would be competing with EV9 and R2. EV9 has 3.5C charging. Toyota better keep it under $60k. Toyota usually underspecs and over prices their EVs to blame market for not buying.

Mlok, 11 Feb 2026CATL Naxtra 5C sodium battery disagrees. Hope Toyota invests in Sodium battery to keep up with... moreThere will be no CATL batteries for US market under this administration. The car is aimed at US market for the most part, so it will be designed with minimum amount of politically toxic supply chain dependencies. Look at US Tesla models today - they even dropped LG sourced packs, only Panasonic remains in 3 and Y.

Hope Toyota invests in Sodium battery to keep up with competition. Wonder if Highlander has 22kw AC charging. 30 min DC charging EV is underwhelming when Eur has 15 min DC charging Xpeng p7, and Model Y

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2026Hope it has brake by wire, 5C DC charging, sodium batteryThere is no way to supply sodium based batteries en masse for US market and there is no reason for Toyota not to use their in-house Panasonic batteries for their vehicles, which means cobalt-oxide based. 5C is not likely, looking at what they offer for CH-R - 10 to 80 in 30 min.
