Cutting 100,000 seems to be the go to number these years. In 2025 BYD has done the same.
Interestingly VW still managed to sell 9 Million cars in 2025. That is similar to 2024 and roughly double of BYD. In 2025 the VW group had a return on sales of 8.9 percent. Their EV cars sell really well in Europe. Let's see how they justify the cuts.
Looking at the plants of Ford in Europe one might get an idea of what's to come. Geely will take over the plant in Valencia. Who knows, maybe BYD will move into the plant in Emden. There are already rumors that BYD is interested in part of the "Gläserne Manufaktur" in Dresden.

At most maybe some brands will change owners, but expecting that the backbone of EU's(Germany's) economy will be sold off entirely is ridiculous.
Blume could save major $ by limiting the many redundant logos on VW, Audi, and Porsche vehicles. Only zero or one logo should be allowed on the interior, and zero or one logo on the exterior. Fewer is better, but absolutely no more. Just think of the savings on inventory parts, tooling costs, production yield, paint, assembly, time to market, and procurement.
Then open source components to the world. Costs would drop dramatically.
More than 2 years ago, i ptrdictrd that tariffs measures from the EU against China would not work because they will buy european factories. My guess about buyers: BYD, Xiaomi, MG.
Within 7-8 years, the automotive industry in Europe will be entirely owned by chinese companies.
going to have massive ripple effects. second and third order consequences.
why did euros vote to start a trade war when they are experiencing an energy crunch?
euros can't even afford air conditioning when gulf arabs air condition outdoor plazas.
