This is a rather odd article. The headline claims "sub-$30,000 Kia EV3", but all pricing is otherwise listed in pounds. It claims the Wind and its 321 mile range is an unprecedented value at $34,990, but the best-selling Tesla Model Y with the same range, more leg room, three times the cargo space, 3500# towing, and faster acceleration at just a bit more at $39,990 seems perhaps to earn its slightly higher price.

The Kia does have its advantages, of course, but they aren't highlighted very well in the article. Some drivers prefer physical rather than touchscreen controls and front- rather than rear-wheel drive, and Kia offers both. Kia also adds a second display behind the steering wheel. Kia supports vehicle-to-load, which Tesla does not. The smaller Kia is easier to parallel park, of course, for city drivers, who may also fancy the city-only 221 mile range Light with another five grand chipped off the sticker price.

Both use the modern NACS socket and can plug-and-charge on the ubiquitous Supercharger network, although Kia can (briefly) charge at 350 kW compared to the entry-level Model Y's 225 kW..

So the EV3 is certainly a welcome competetive entry to the US market. It's just tough to understand why from this particular article. But us Americans do appreciate your coverage of our EV market, which like Mark Twain has been quite prematurely reported elsewhere as dead.
