Cadillac offers $5,500 discount on brand new Lyriq with a tracking catch

Cadillac

Who wouldn’t want a discount on a brand new car? How about $5,500 taken off a brand new Cadillac Lyriq? Sounds like an amazing deal but when the deal is too good to be true there is usually a catch - and this time it’s a big one.

Cadillac has been apparently offering this sizable incentive to selected customers in exchange for being allowed to track them. The company wants to see how the real customers actually use the car and learn from their behavior in order to improve its products.

This new discount will be available for a limited time only and everyone buying the Lyriq before August 31 will be offered to participate. People who agree will have to sign a nondisclosure agreement to prevent them from sharing their experience with the car publicly. Although the sales have officially started no car will be delivered to customers before early 2023 which makes this whole deal almost a pie in the sky.

Cadillac confirmed it is offering the discount to a small group of early customers because it wants to learn what it cannot learn from its employees - the real customer behavior. The demand for Lyriq is high apparently but the company did not confirm the number of orders when it said the entire 2023 production is already sold out. First cars to reach the customers will be the AWD models with the RWD versions planned for 2024 delivery.

The Lyriq undercuts its nearest rivals on price but promises to outdo them in the quality and equipment department. The design of Lyriq is refreshing as well and the bosses want to make sure the whole package is exactly what the customers expect.

We are used to having our personal data exploited, social media companies and pretty much every company using the Internet have access to our data, often without proper consent. So when someone comes up with an offer to actually pay for our data a lot of people will agree - can you blame them?
