Bentley

Bentley's first EV is almost here. The luxury brand is now teasing the launch of the upcoming model, which is called Torcal and will be officially unveiled on September 23 in London.

The name is inspired by El Torcal de Antequera in Spain, which is one of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe. The word Torcal is also derived from the Latin "torquere", which means to twist - that's the root of the modern word "torque".

Thus, according to Bentley, Torcal "also implies effortless progression". The company promises the car will continue "the unrivaled blend of craftsmanship and performance that have defined the brand since 1919". The Torcal will become the fourth Bentley model line, alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.

Bentley CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser said:

For 107 years Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars - effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history.
