Tesla BYD

According to a report from EV-Volumes, purely electric cars accounted for 10% of all car sales in February 2023. Total plug-in registrations for the month were 812,000 - 14% of all cars - and around 9.7% were BEVs.

The most sold plug-in car was the Tesla Model Y with 81,079 units, followed by the BYD Song with a combined 52,644 units (only around 7,000 of which were EVs, the rest PHEV), then the Model 3 in third with 36,863.

The outlook is for BEV and PHEV shipments to soon exceed 1 million per month with around 13% of them being BEVs.

Despite Tesla's domination in individual model sales, BYD shipped the most plug-in vehicles in the month of February with 184k. Tesla's an increasingly distant second with close to 121k.
