Following its recent debut in the South Korean market, the new electric BMW i5 is gearing up for its launch in Europe. And the German maker added a dash of extra excitement by teasing its upcoming BMW i5 Touring poised to make its grand debut in spring 2024.

The actual launch is scheduled for 21 October 2023 and will cover all of BMW's European markets. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Americans can catch their first glimpse of the car on the roads by 28 October 2023. The rest of the global market will follow suit on 25 November 2023.

The eighth generation of BMW's illustrious 5 Series is the first to take a leap into the future by offering an all-electric variant, the BMW i5. Early indications and pre-launch orders suggest that this model is not just a fleeting fancy but is highly anticipated by customers.

BMW offers two distinct variants of the i5. The BMW i5 eDrive40 boasts an output of up to 250 kW or 340 hp and goes 362 miles on a charge per the WLTP cycle. For those with a thirst for more power, the i5 M60 xDrive sedan churns out up to 442 kW or a whopping 601 hp, albeit with a slightly lower range of 321 miles.

When it comes to tech, the new BMW i5 offers Highway Assistant allowing enabling a more relaxed driving experience. It even lets you remove your hands from the wheel at speeds up to 81 mph. There's also the Automatic Lane Change - a mere glance in the exterior mirror, and the system swings into action, changing lanes effortlessly.

And come spring 2024, the world will lay its eyes on the new generation of the BMW 5 Series Touring. BMW claims it will be the first premium car in its category to offer a full range of drive options. From an all-electric drive to highly efficient combustion engines with 48-volt mild hybrid tech with plug-in hybrid in between.
