BYD

China's trailblazing EV manufacturer BYD, continues to expand its global footprint by introducing its Dolphin electric vehicle model to Brazil and the Atto 3 to the South African market. This marks the company's latest effort in its aggressive worldwide push to champion sustainable transportation solutions.

Launched on June 28, the Dolphin is BYD's fifth model to enter the Brazilian market, joining the lineup of the Tang EV, Han EV, Yuan Plus EV, and Song Plus DM-i. Notably, the Dolphin is the company's inaugural model based on the innovative e-Platform 3.0. With a starting price tag of 149,800 Brazilian reais ($31,020), the Dolphin's entry to the market signifies BYD's commitment to offering affordable and competitive new energy models to consumers in Brazil.

As of June 29, 300 Dolphins have already been purchased by Brazilian customers. "The BYD Dolphin represents a gateway for those desiring to transition to electric vehicle ownership. We're confident in the Dolphin's value proposition and are dedicated to providing Brazilian customers with a wider array of NEVs," shared Tyler Li, General Manager of BYD Brazil.

In parallel, BYD is also expanding its physical presence in Brazil, with 24 offline dealership stores already established. By year-end, the company anticipates having a total of 100 stores, further strengthening its retail presence.

Meanwhile, BYD made a foray into the South African market with the launch of the Atto 3 on June 29. Known as the BYD Yuan Plus in China, this model is BYD's first offering specifically designed for international markets. Currently, the Atto 3 is available in several global markets, including Japan, Australia, and Singapore, and is now available in South Africa with a starting price of 768,000 South African Rand ($40,630).

BYD's aggressive international expansion is backed by strong sales figures. In May alone, the company sold 240,220 NEVs, including 30,679 units of the Dolphin and 35,815 units from the Yuan family, according to recent data. However, overseas sales dipped by 31.19% in May compared to April, a decline that will hopefully be mitigated by the company's ongoing global expansion efforts.

BYD's rapid global expansion into diverse markets and its steady unveiling of new models serve as a testament to the company's strategy to solidify its standing in the global EV market. As more consumers switch to sustainable transport solutions, BYD is poised to cater to their needs with its growing range of innovative, affordable, and energy-efficient vehicles.
