Denza BYD

The Z9, a sleek electric sedan brought to you by BYD's premium brand Denza, is creating a lot of interest already. With a rumored release date sometime next month, the Z9 is yet another promising EV by the industry's biggest player.

Denza previously teased a few of the Z9's features, and now it's offering a glimpse of its interior. Design sketches released by the company preview a spacious cabin dominated by a landscape-oriented center screen and an expansive dashboard screen that stretches in front of the steering wheel.

The Denza Z9 also boasts very wide leg rests for two of its three rear seats. While these design sketches provide an exciting preview, the final interior may hold even more surprises.

In September, the brand launched the Z9GT, a sporty grand tourer with a starting price of RMB 334,800 (approximately $46,000). This model comes in three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle variants and two battery electric vehicle variants, offering a range of powertrain options to suit various needs.

Like its GT sibling, the Z9 will come in both PHEV and BEV versions. The PHEV is expected to share the powertrain with the Z9GT, featuring three electric motors with a peak combined power output of 710 kW. Details on the BEV's powertrain are still under wraps, but anticipation is high for equally impressive performance figures.

Regulatory filings in China have revealed the Z9's exterior dimensions, painting a picture of a generously proportioned sedan. It measures 205.5 inches in length, 78.3 inches in width, and 59.1 inches in height. With a wheelbase of 123 inches (that's longer than the BMW i5), the Z9 promises ample legroom and a comfortable ride for both front and rear passengers.

Denza has been carefully orchestrating the Z9's launch, building anticipation through pre-sales and strategic reveals. Zhao Changjiang, Denza's head of sales, recently confirmed that the company is on track for a November launch, though the exact date remains a secret.
