BYD Denza

Earlier this month, the Denza brand owned 90% by BYD and 10% by Daimler (aka Mercedes-Benz) started teasing its next EV - in Mercedes' hometown of Stuttgart, Germany, of all places.

Today, the Denza Z9 GT has been certified for sale in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a necessary step for all vehicles before they can go on sale. This process has revealed a couple of pictures of the car with no camouflage on, and it's clearly the exact same model Denza was teasing in Germany.

The Z9 GT is 203.9 inches long, 78.3 inches wide, and either 59.1 inches or 58.3 inches tall, depending on version - the taller one doesn't have air suspension, the other variant does. Its wheelbase is a very roomy 123 inches. The car weighs 6,338 lb and has a top speed of 149 mph.

The Denza Z9 GT has three motors, one in the front and two in the rear. Their individual peak power output is 230 kW for the front one and 240 kW for each of the rear ones, but it's unclear if the total power output will be the sum of those three numbers or less (it can go either way). Regardless, this will definitely be one fast car.

These are all the details about the Z9 GT that have been revealed through the certification process. The car is expected to be launched at some point later this year.
