CATL Battery

CATL has unveiled its latest innovation in the electric vehicle sector: the Tectrans battery series for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. This is a significant step forward in the electrification of the commercial transportation industry, addressing key challenges such as range limitations, slow charging times, and battery life degradation.

The Tectrans series offers four specialized battery versions: supercharging, long-life, long-range, and durable. Each version is an answer to specific applications within the heavy-duty commercial vehicle segment.

The supercharging version has an impressive 4C charging rate, allowing it to recharge as much as 70% SoC in just 15 minutes. This means minimal downtime and increased operational efficiency for businesses. This battery is ideal for applications such as mining and construction thanks to its range of up to 311 miles and a lifespan of 746,000 miles,

The long-life version, as its name suggests, offers exceptional longevity for long-haul trucking - 15 years or 1,860,000 miles. CATL estimates that a heavy truck traveling 124,000 miles per year could save $138,000 over eight years compared to a traditional diesel truck.

The long-range version pushes the boundaries of electric trucking with a capacity of up to 1,000 kWh, and a range of up to 497 miles. This extended range opens up new possibilities for long-distance transportation, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Finally, the durable version designed for construction machinery. This battery offers a four-fold increase in endurance compared to industry standards. Now, even the harshest of operating environments can switch away from gasoline and diesel.

The company reports that the durable version is in mass production and currently powers over 20 models from eight construction machinery manufacturers. CATL has been the leading supplier of heavy-duty truck batteries in China for four consecutive years, holding a 30% market share in the construction machinery sector.

China's Air quality is becoming less and less toxic, while the US is about to get even worse air quality. EU should've invested in EV tech a long time ago, we'd be sitting with great air quality right now, but instead gas guzzlers are ...
