GAC

In an official statement today, GAC Aion announced its plans to enter the Thai car market, which will mark the beginning of the brand's international expansion. The company has already struck a deal with a local dealership and will begin shipping its vehicles to the country as soon as possible.

But that's not all. GAC Aion will also set up its Southeast Asian headquarters in Thailand by the end of this year and is in talks with the local authorities to start local production of models intended for sale in the country.

According to the China Passenger Car Association, GAC Aion is the second-biggest Chinese carmaker after BYD and as it speeds up its EV transition it plans to ship 500,000 EVs this year. It's interesting that GAC will be competing with Neta in Thailand, while other manufacturers like Nio, Xpeng and BYD decided to begin their expansion with the European market.
