Tesla

A recent report claimed Tesla would launch the Cybercab in Austin by the end of this month. It was allegedly an "internal target", and the company will miss it, but only by a few short days.

Tesla has now announced the Cybercab "exclusive access" event for September 3. It's going to be held in Austin, Texas, where the Cybercab will be deployed first.

Here's when Tesla is launching the Cybercab

The event is invite-only and meant for Tesla's Robotaxi rider sweepstakes top scorers. It will thankfully be live streamed, though.

What's going to be new is the Cybercab vehicle being used for Tesla's Robotaxi service in Austin, alongside or replacing the existing Model Ys that are already in use for autonomous rides. So the car will be new, but the underlying service and software won't be.

It will be interesting to see how many Cybercabs Tesla will actually put on the road in Austin, since the autonomous Model Ys are still in the low dozens.
