Jeep asks fans for help with naming the new electric Wagoneer

Jeep

The family of Jeep Wagoneer is growing and its smallest addition is all-electric and is coming in 2024. Arguably it is the best looking member of the family and it will go head-to-head with the likes of Range Rover Sport. It has the looks, it has the performance but it hasn’t got the name - yet.

For now the company has codenamed the new all-electric Jeep Wagoneer the “S” - apparently the “S” stands for speed, striking and sexy according to Ralph Gilles, the CDO of Jeep. The company is promising a dual-motor AWD powertrain with 600 HP supercar worthy acceleration of 3.5 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. The days of SUVs accelerating in 8 seconds to 60 mph and being called fast are truly over.

Jeep promises a 400 miles range but that’s more likely to happen when the car is driven very carefully, with the claimed performance it’ll be very difficult to keep the right foot away from the accelerator.

Despite the car being signed off for production and going on sale in 2024, Jeep hasn’t decided on a name for it. The company had few names for it but in the end just couldn’t decide which one to go for. The decision was taken to involve Jeep fans and the wider community.

Jeep will organize an online contest starting next month with a name to be chosen before the end of the year. The company will review the chosen shortlisted names, check the trademarks just to be sure and then the winner will be announced. Once the name is agreed on, the new Wagoneer reservations will kick off.

The decision of where the electric Wagoneer is going to be manufactured hasn’t been announced yet but with the two new battery factories in Indiana and Ontario, it would make sense to have the car manufactured nearby.

The electric Wagoneer will first enter North American markets in 2024 and later will be exported to Europe. The car is one of four new electric Jeeps to go on sale by 2025. It joins the recently unveiled Jeep Avenger and will be followed by Jeep Recon and Wrangler 4xe.
