Kia Announcement

Ahead of the official debut later this month, Kia has unveiled its new and innovative electric van. This is Kia's first electric vehicle in the Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) segment. The PV5, showcased in initial images, will be officially revealed at Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, on February 27th.

The PV5 definitely stands out from the crowd with its unique design - quite a departure from traditional light commercial vehicles. Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy is evident in the van's bold and futuristic looks. The PV5 comes in two distinct versions: a passenger variant and a cargo variant.

The passenger version boasts a generous glass area, creating a bright and airy cabin. The cargo version, on the other hand, sports a more utilitarian design with a boxy silhouette and a twin-door tailgate for easy loading and unloading. Both versions sport striking LED lighting signatures at the front and rear. Chunky claddings and geometrically shaped wheel arches add to the robust look of the vehicle.

The interiors of both the passenger and cargo versions have not been shown yet, but Kia has hinted at the PV5's versatility and customization options. The company plans to offer the PV5 in many configurations, including specialized conversions. The passenger version will feature a single lift-up tailgate and sliding rear doors.

The PV5 enters a competitive electric van market. Kia's focus on design, versatility, and technology could give the PV5 an edge it will need to square up against other competitors. The company's new PBV strategy suggests that the PV5 is just the beginning of a larger push into the electric commercial vehicle market.

The PV5's arrival comes at a time when the demand for electric cars, and especially electric commercial vehicles, is growing. More and more businesses want to electrify their fleets to reduce operating costs and meet emissions targets. The PV5, with its passenger and cargo variants, is positioned really well to meet this growing demand.

Feels a little bit downgraded from the initial concept design. It has become more boxy with less flow.. Still waiting if the WKNDR version will come out from the PV5 as showcased in LA.. That would give true distinction to the PV5 lineup.. ...

It does not look that aerodynamic. So it needs bleeding edge dense battery like Silicon Anode or Solid State. That said bring it on for sure.
