Land Rover readying another full-electric vehicle, likely a Velar successor

Range Rover

After numerous delays with the all-electric Range Rover, JLR's Finance Chief surprised everyone by announcing plans for another "unique" all-electric Land Rover model that will slot between the Evoque and the Range Rover. And it's due for announcement later this year.

Range Rover readying another full-electric vehicle, likely a Velar EV

Of course, unique doesn't reveal much, but it's probably safe to assume the Finance Chief was talking about a Velar replacement.

The Velar will adopt an unusual design for a Land Rover, though. It's expected to come with a lower clearance, and the shape of the body will be reminiscent of a station wagon. Perhaps that's what the Land Rover exec meant by "unique". Naturally, it will ride on the new EMA (Electric Modular Architecture) platform.

Since the Evoque EV is scheduled for 2027 and the Range Rover EV is coming in 2026, the Velar will probably come right after the Range Rover by the end of 2026.

So if Land Rover sticks to its schedule, the car maker will have a compact (Evoque), mid-size (Velar) and full-size (Range Rover) EV lineup.
