Mercedes

Mercedes announced a new feature update to its MBUX Voice Assistant. Starting today, Mercedes owners can update their MBUX free of charge and take advantage of the new, advanced AI capabilities.

Mercedes adds human-like conversation support to its MBUX Voice Assistant

The features include human-like conversation support as well as AI-powered general knowledge. The two features are powered by Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service, which taps into ChatGPT and Bing. You can start a conversation by pressing the dedicated button on the steering wheel or by saying, "Hey, Mercedes."

You can ask all sorts of questions on various topics. The assistant will do a Bing search and then summarize the results in a natural, human-like way. Since it's context-aware, you can ask a follow-up question. The MBUX Voice Assistant can store a conversation history of up to one hour, so you can pick up where you left off.

As mentioned, the functionality is made available free of charge and it's supported in just two languages, English and German. Support for more languages is expected.
