The new Citroen C3 Aircross wants to shake up the compact SUV segment with a range of powertrain options, including an all-electric variant. This family-friendly SUV was already introduced, but we didn't get much in terms of specifications. Now the company shared a bit more about the upcoming model.
For starters while there will be a seven-seat version available, the EV model will only come with five seats.
Citroen C3 Aircross's electric model uses the same powertrain as the smaller e-C3, with a 111bhp motor and a 44 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack. While Citroen has yet to release the official 0-62 mph time, the electric Aircross is expected to be slightly slower than the e-C3 due to its larger size. However, the company assures that it offers "sufficient performance to slot into everyday traffic."
The electric C3 Aircross promises a range of 186 miles on a single charge, while those needing more range will be glad to know a larger battery option will be available next year, extending the range to over 249 miles. Both battery versions can be recharged at up to 100 kW (DC).
Citroen equipped the C3 Aircross with the same hydraulic bump stops as the C3 to ensure a smooth ride even with seven passengers on board. Inside it will have a head-up display and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. A number of USB-C charging ports and the wireless charging pad will be available in the more premium trim.
The C3 Aircross starts at $21,500 for the entry-level petrol model, but the all-electric model starts at a much higher $30,400. Still, once you factor in available subsidies in certain European countries, it can be a decent deal. Order books will be opening in September.
