FSD is doing a lot of progress and I am watching it closely, but it's still far from safe in a lot of situations.

Autopilot is far ahead of anything currently available, and it's perfectly usable in the situations it is intended for. Part of the delays are regulatory, and the well-publicized accidents are few and far between, often at least partially due to the driver ignoring repeated warnings from the car. Musk does hype, but the actual sales materials provide ample disclosure. The left in the US is on a mission to cancel and destroy Musk personally, so they'll throw anything at him and his companies. But with all of his faults, he is the greatest tech visionary of our time.
