Nissan Dongfeng Announcement

Nissan just announced the N6, its first plug-in sedan for the Chinese market. The N6 arrives through Nissan's joint venture with Dongfeng, called the Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN).

The N6 is the first car built on the Tianyan Architecture, Nissan and Dongfeng's shared NEV platform.

Being a plug-in hybrid, the N6 pairs a 1.5-liter petrol engine with a 21.1 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. Nissan claims a sub-2L per 62 miles efficiency and an EV-only range of up to 112 miles. Nissan says the result earned the N6 a Guinness World Record. The battery charges in under 20 minutes.

The car has a sleek exterior with thin-profile headlights with adaptive high-beam, and "Hurricane-eye" 3D taillights.

Inside, you get a 360-degree wraparound interior, 85% of which is covered by soft-touch materials. There's a 15.6-inch "2.5k" display with the Xiao Ni AI voice assistant.

The front seats are AI Zero-Pressure Cloud Cushion with adaptive posture. The rear seats are a Zero-Pressure Cloud Cushion Sofa. Nissan used a gel material that gives off a premium leather-like feel.

You can spec either Off-White or Elegant Black as interior colors with Rose Gold or Night Purple accents. The exterior colors are Sunlight Gold, Hyacinth Purple, Flowing Silver, Obsidian Black, Rock Grey, and Pearl White.

The N6 has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8775 automotive-grade chip and an end-to-end driver assistance system developed with Momenta. It assists during highway and city driving and parking.

The Nissan N6 comes in five tiers - 180 Air, 180 Pro, 180 Max, 180 Max+, and the flagship 170 Max+ (why is 170 higher than 180 is anyone's guess). The price range is from CNY 100,000 to CNY 130,000. Deliveries could begin as early as December 8.

On a scale of 0-5, where zero is Mercedes-like token regeneration, and five is Toyota full-hybrid, where is Nissan China? Also, after EV-only range is used up, and N6 must switch from EV to HV mode, how does the performance change?
