Polestar

Polestar, Volvo's former performance arm turned electric offshoot, is shaking up the tech scene with the debut of its very own smartphone. Designed with EV owners in mind, the Polestar Phone promises to offer unrivaled integration with your car.

Thanks to the unboxing video, we get to see that the Polestar Phone boasts a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Its clean white backplate proudly showcases the Polestar logo. At the same time, the metallic sides and a triple-camera setup (the fourth sensor seems to be the TOF and is trimmed in gold for a touch of luxury) give it a distinctly premium edge.

While exact specifications are yet to be confirmed, rumor has it the Polestar Phone will feature a 6.5-inch display with an unusual 21:9 aspect ratio.

Polestar is gunning for the luxury market with this one: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 16 GB of RAM, and a whopping 1 TB of storage.

At the back we are looking at a triple camera with 50 MP, 13 MP, and 10 MP sensors, while the front has a 32 MP selfie shooter.

The Polestar Phone is a product of collaboration between the automaker and Meizu - both companies reside under the Geely automotive umbrella. Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath emphasizes that this isn't some generic phone with a Polestar sticker – both the phone and the Polestar 4's infotainment system will boot Meizu's Flyme operating system (at least in China).

Ingenlath believes this shared software is the secret sauce that will unlock "seamless" connectivity between your Polestar EV and your smartphone—a hassle-free experience that hasn't existed in the industry thus far.

We're eager to see the Polestar Phone's full spec sheet, which should be unveiled soon. Regardless, the automotive industry is gradually merging with the tech world. Xiaomi's foray into cars and Apple's failed (but ambitious) car project are clear evidence.

The phone's official launch is imminent (April 23 in China), offering the perfect pairing for Polestar EV owners. Early images reveal a beautifully crafted device with a clean, minimalist design fitting the Polestar brand. The back is simple, save for the unmistakable Polestar logo and a subtle 'Polestar Phone' tag near the bottom.

Official pricing will also be unveiled tomorrow. Polestar may offer special incentives for EV buyers, but we should hear the exact details at the event. Whether or not the Polestar Phone makes its way globally is unknown, though keeping it China-exclusive would be a shame.

Not just a pretty face, but it's just a Meizu with a pretty face plus a Polestar logo.
