Porsche is giving its Taycan a fresh look and a dose of added value. The German automaker has introduced the 2026 Taycan Black Edition, a special model that bundles a host of desirable features with a stealthy, monochrome aesthetic.

In the first half of 2025, Porsche sold 2,083 Taycans in the US, a small 1.4% increase from the previous year. But on a global scale, Taycan deliveries saw a 6% drop in the same period, prompting Porsche to try to revive the lineup.

Enter the Black Edition, a package that is more than just a paint job, and is available for the base rear-wheel-drive Taycan, the Taycan 4, and the Taycan 4S. The pricing for this edition hasn't been confirmed yet, but it will be a bump considering a long list of standard equipment that is otherwise optional.

The biggest upgrade is the Performance Battery Plus. This 105 kWh battery pack, usually a costly extra, is standard on all Black Edition models. It increases the driving range and also improves performance. The base Taycan Black Edition produces up to 429 horsepower (320 kW), while the Taycan 4S Black Edition delivers 590 horsepower (440 kW). The electric powertrain itself remains the same as the standard models.

As the name implies, the Black Edition features numerous high-gloss black accents. The window trim, mirror caps, and rear model designation are all finished in black, creating a sleek and imposing look. The car rides on 21-inch wheels with full-color Porsche crests at the center. The package also includes matrix LED headlights and a rear light bar with an illuminated Porsche logo in black.

If you really want to lean into the theme, an optional extended Black Edition package adds decals to the front doors. Despite its name, the Black Edition is available in several colors, including Volcano Grey Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and Ice Grey Metallic, in addition to Jet Black Metallic.

Inside, the dark theme continues with a black interior, illuminated black brushed aluminum door sill plates, and a unique "Black Edition" badge on the center console. The package also includes 14-way power comfort seats with the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests, a Bose Surround Sound System, and Porsche's Electric Sport Sound. Deliveries for the 2026 Porsche Taycan Black Edition will start in the fall of 2025.
