The E.Xpress joins its sibling E.Wave X as a funky last-mile delivery van

There is no getting away from the fact that the new e.Xpress looks just like the e.Wave X if not for the lack of rear windows. That’s a good thing actually because, arguably, the e.Wave X is a really good-looking electric car.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the e.Xpress is destined to live out its days transporting goods through the busy city streets. With 940 liters of cargo space and 240 kg of payload it won’t be able to carry sofas or fridges, but it is perfect for parcels, flowers and food deliveries. It can work well as a fast courier, although it won’t have a chance against the bike services.

The e.Xpress has a little secret up its sleeve when it comes to recharging - its battery can be recharged as normal or it can be swapped in a matter of minutes. With its range of 230km the minivan is more than sufficient for inner-city duties and when a recharge is urgent quick battery swap means no downtime at all. The standard charging can then be done overnight.

As it is becoming more popular with electric cars, the battery can be either purchased together with the e.Xpress or can be rented, which might be the more efficient option for business users.

To make the purchase of e.Xpress and e.Wave X easier, the company is partnering with OneFor, a German FinTech company specialising in digital finance. The idea behind this partnership is to provide instant loans of up to €25,000 to allow the customers to easily buy one of the vehicles and spread the payment over as much as 84 months.

The pre-orders for e.Xpress will begin on November 2 with deliveries planned to begin next year. E.Go - the company behind the e.Xpress - has been making waves since it introduced its first electric car, the e.Wave X. The car turned into a runaway success despite not being cheap, with prices starting at €25,000 and reaching nearly €30,000 for the top of the range Metropolitan model.
