VW

The 2025 model Volkswagen Golf R has been spotted testing camo-less, hinting at the car's imminent arrival. The car sports the Golf R's typical quad exhausts (with different tips than the current model), as well as refreshed LED lights on both ends.

This, along with Volkswagen's upcoming 2025 refresh of the Golf line will be the last gas-powered before the lineup goes electric in 2028.

The EV-based Golf line will be based on VW Group's upcoming SSP modular platform, which is scheduled to arrive in 2028.

The next Golf R spotted, it's the final gas-powered model

The next Golf R will likely feature a bigger central display - the current model has an 8.3-inch one - but will likely retain the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo with a possible bump to the current 315hp. The choice of transmission is currently between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch auto box, which will very likely be the sole option in the next Golf R.

R series can accelerate 0-250 in 30sec and go up to 280kmh stock. many of these has ecu tune reaching 300kmh top speed. almost no $50K EV have such stats. they can have regular EV models but, R is much different
