VinFast

Keeping up with the progress of some of the EV companies can be tricky. While we may be used to slow developments from the US and European automakers, the Chinese market seems to be moving at a much faster pace. And then, there is VinFast from Vietnam, which didn’t even exist 5 years ago and sold its first EV only in December last year.

Now, VinFast is a global company and sells its electric cars in Europe and in the US among many other markets. The company has over 24,000 orders on its books and it is spreading its wings faster than we can keep up with. 5,000 vehicles are on the way to Europe, Canada and the US after VinFast launched the VF8 and VF9 in those markets in July.

The company has decided to expand its portfolio in the US and is introducing two more models to the American customers. The VF6 and VF7 were designed with the help of Torino Design, an Italian design house that worked with BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and many other automakers on their projects.

The naming nomenclature from VinFast is simple - the bigger the number, the bigger the car, some manufacturers could learn a lesson or two here. With the VF8 and VF9 occupying the larger segments D and E on the American market, the VF6 and VF7 will enter in the most popular B and C segments.

The company hasn’t released the pricing yet but since the VF8 starts at $57,000 we can expect to see VF6 hovering around $40,000, maybe even slightly below. The company operates the BaaS (battery-as-a-service) sales model so if you pay a monthly subscription, the sale price drops to $42,000 in case of VF8 or $57,500 for the larger VF9. Will we see the first $30,000 SUV on American soil?

For now the company has released the equipment and trims available for both of the models and here are the details:
