VinFast

VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker, is going ahead with its expansion plans, and its latest offering, the VinFast VF7 is a key part of those. While the company may not be a household name just yet, its commitment to producing electric vehicles that are both practical and affordable is starting to gain attention.

The VinFast VF7, will join its larger siblings, the VF8 and VF9, hoping to capture the hearts of compact EV enthusiasts. But what sets it apart, apart from its smaller size, is its price, which has piqued the interest of potential buyers.

The VinFast VF7 comes in two versions: Base and Plus. The Base version features a single electric motor with 130 kW (174 hp) output and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 59.6 kWh battery pack. This combination provides a driving range of 233 miles WLTP. The Plus version boasts a twin-motor setup, delivering four-wheel drive with 260 kW (349 hp). The larger 75.3 kWh battery pack extends the range to 268 miles.

The Base version comes in at around $43,900 in Vietnam, while the Plus version is just under $52,700. VinFast also offers the option to lease the battery, significantly reducing the upfront cost. While this may involve a monthly lease amount, it can make the VF7 even more accessible to a wider range of buyers.

Measuring at 14.93 ft in length, 6.2 ft in width, and 5.38 ft in height, with a wheelbase of 9.32 ft, the Vinfast VF7 sits close to popular models like the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Peugeot e-3008.

The market introduction of the VinFast VF7 is imminent in Vietnam, with the first deliveries expected in early 2024. VinFast's ambition to expand its presence beyond its home market is well documented, and it will be interesting to see how this compact EV performs on a global scale.
