Volkswagen Audi Porsche

Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Scout Motors have finally committed to the North American Charging Standard (NACS) starting in 2025. The announcement, made today, is seen by many as a move necessary for survival in a market where Tesla has set the standard for over a decade.

The move will grant Volkswagen Group vehicles access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

One intriguing aspect of this announcement is the acknowledgment that "Volkswagen, Porsche, and Audi are exploring adapter solutions for existing vehicles to access the Tesla Supercharger network, starting in 2025." The transition from CCS1 to NACS will unfold gradually.

Only the all-new models from the Volkswagen Group, launching in 2025, will come equipped with NACS ports. Existing models will persist with CCS1 until they undergo updates. The forthcoming 2025 ID.7, for example, is set to launch with a CCS1 port.
