Xiaomi

In a whirlwind of a launch, Xiaomi, the tech behemoth, unveiled its SU7 electric sedan, boasting a serious 495 kW power output from its twin-motor setup and a sizable 101 kWh CATL Qilin battery, claiming an impressive 497 miles range.

The SU7 made a lightning-fast appearance at Xiaomi stores within 24 hours of its grand reveal, a sprint that hints at the company's ambitious timeline. Lei Jun, Xiaomi's CEO, propped up expectations, announcing mass production commencing in the first half of 2024, with deliveries hitting the streets shortly thereafter.

Xiaomi's flagship store in Beijing played host to the SU7's debut, setting the stage for future displays in stores across China. However, not all stores seem ready to welcome this electric guest. The Mi Home store in Foshan, for instance, cited spatial challenges, indicating that Xiaomi might need a tune-up in its store design strategy.

Three colors - Aqua Blue, Mineral Gray, and Verdant Green - will paint the SU7, mirroring Xiaomi's ecosystem approach by releasing accessories and gadgets in matching colors. A harmonious symphony or a marketing stunt? That's a question for another pit stop.

What puts the SU7 on the map, besides its flashy exterior, is Xiaomi's trump card - the HyperOS system. Replacing the existing MIUI OS, this unified system aims to connect all Xiaomi devices seamlessly. Imagine mirroring your smartphone on the car's interior screen or turning your Mi Pad into an in-car entertainment hub.

Xiaomi promises smooth compatibility with Apple products, a bold claim that leaves us pondering if it's just another tech tit-for-tat. However, Lei Jun has cautioned fans - to brace for a pricier ride than they bargained for.

Xiaomi, renowned for democratizing high-end products, ventured into the smartphone arena in 2010. However, the SU7 isn't a solitary creation; it's a product of collaboration. Assembled in the factory owned by BAIC Off-road Vehicle Co., a subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. Ltd, Xiaomi seems to be following the same outsourcing path that led to its smartphone success.

Fresh off the SU7 launch, Xiaomi unveiled a dedicated website for its EV business, oozing with Xiaomi's signature style. Despite the sleek design and tantalizing details about the SU7's capabilities, the site leaves potential buyers thirsting for the crucial details - price and delivery dates.
