XPeng

The fast-growing Chinese car company XPeng shared big news about its financial performance and its international expansion plans. For the first time since the company started making cars, XPeng actually made a profit. Many new companies that step into making EVs lose money for a long time, but XPeng managed to cross the finish line into the green during the last three months of 2025.

Making money in the car business is not easy. In the fourth quarter of 2025, XPeng reported a net profit of RMB 380 million - about $50 million at current exchange rates. To understand how big of a deal this is, we need to look at the year before. In late 2024, the company lost RMB 1.33 billion. Turning a huge loss into a profit in just one year shows that the company is finding ways to build cars more efficiently and sell them for a better price.

One reason for this success is that the company is making more money on every car it sells. This is called a profit margin. XPeng’s margin hit 21.3% at the end of 2025, and the company also made a lot of money - over RMB 3 billion - by helping other car companies with technology. Even though XPeng did not say the name of the partner, we believe the major part of that income comes from working with Volkswagen. By selling its smart car technology to others, XPeng earns extra cash without having to build more factories.

Now that the company is stable at home, it is looking for new markets across the ocean. On March 25, XPeng will officially start selling cars in Mexico. This is a very important step because it is its first big move into the Latin American market. The company wants to be a global brand, not just a Chinese one. It already has more than 1,000 sales locations in 60 different countries around the world.

Mexican drivers will get to see two specific models first: the G6 and the G9. Both of these vehicles are SUVs, which are very popular with families. The G6 is a smaller, sporty SUV, while the G9 is the larger, flagship model. By bringing these models to Mexico, XPeng hopes to find new fans who want high-tech EVs. CEO He Xiaopeng shared the news on social media to show how excited he is about this move.

The goals for the future are even bigger. In 2025, XPeng sold about 45,000 vehicles outside of China. For 2026, it wants to double that number, hoping to sell 90,000 cars internationally this year. By the year 2030, the company wants 70% of its total profits to come from countries other than China.

Even with all this good news, there are some small bumps in the road. XPeng delivered 116,249 vehicles in the last part of 2025, but it was actually a bit lower than what it expected to sell. Also, the beginning of 2026 might be a little slow. The company thinks it will deliver between 61,000 and 66,000 cars in the first three months of the new year. This is normal because people in China usually buy fewer cars during the early months of the year.

Overall, XPeng is proving that it can compete with the biggest names in the industry. By making a profit and moving into new places like Mexico, the company is showing that it is here to stay. The total revenue reached RMB 22.25 billion at the end of last year - a 38% jump from the year before. Since XPeng separated its aviation part into an independent Aridge company, the actual financial outlook for both companies is far better moving forward - it seems both have become the ones to watch closely.
