$100,000 Callum Skye electric off-roader debuts

Callum

Born from the mind of legendary Jaguar designer Ian Callum, the enigmatic Callum Skye will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Concours on Savile Row in London. This electric vehicle defies easy categorization, blending elements of a coupe, SUV, and even a beach buggy.

$100,000 Callum Skye is unlike any electric off-roader

The Skye is Callum's first ground-up creation, following several other projects, including transforming the Jaguar C-X75 concept into a road-legal reality. The Skye's design remains faithful to the prototypes revealed late last year, maintaining an air of mystery around its classification. Its coupe-like silhouette is lifted by substantial ground clearance, hinting at off-road prowess.

The interior, which was revealed before the London debut, features a 2+2 layout with sports seats in the front and a rear bench intended for storage or smaller passengers. The driver interface is dominated by a three-spoke steering wheel, a tablet-style touchscreen for infotainment, and a vertical array of small, round touchscreens on the center stack.

Callum has equipped the Skye with a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing an estimated 170 miles of driving range. While not class-leading, the available fast-charging system promises to replenish the battery in under 10 minutes. With a claimed 0-60 mph time of under four seconds, Skye's performance credentials are impressive.

Measuring 13.25 ft long and 6.2 ft wide, the Skye is surprisingly compact, akin to a two-door Jeep Wrangler in length, but slightly wider. Tipping the scales at 2,535 lb, it's roughly 220 lb heavier than a Mazda MX-5 Miata. However, those large tires aren't just for show, as Callum has designed the Skye for serious off-road adventures.

Callum has opened the order books for the Skye, with prices ranging from $110,000 to $140,000, depending on options. Production will be limited, with additional variants – some focused on off-roading, others for on-road performance – slated for release later in 2024.
