The 2024 Polestar 2 was officially unveiled in January but the availability and US pricing were missing from the announcement. At the time, the company only unveiled the European version and only shared the pricing info for the European market. That changes today and the really good news is that there is a way to get a full $7,500 federal EV tax credit for the Polestar 2.
Starting with the entry model for the US market, Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor starts at $49,900. The 220 kW (299 hp) electric motor works in tandem with the 82 kWh battery - the result is an updated EPA rating of 320 miles and 0 to 60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. Blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and steer assist with brake support are all standard now, as well as a 360-degree camera system, parking sensors, and auto-dimming mirrors.
The RWD Polestar 2 supports DC charging of up to 205 kW, additional Plus Pack, costing $2,200, adds a full-length glass roof, energy-efficient heat pump, premium sound by Harman Kardon, heated steering wheel, and front seats together with wiper nozzles. A new and improved onboard air quality system is part of the pack, which is $2,000 cheaper than it was for the previous model.
The Dual Motor version starts at $55,300 and comes with a slightly smaller 78 kWh battery pack. The two motors pack 310 kW (421 hp), and thanks to the 546 lb-ft of torque, the new Polestar 2 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The EPA rating for this model is 276 miles, and the battery supports up to 155 kW DC charging. The formerly optional Pilot Pack comes standard now with this model and offers Pilot Assist, adaptive cruise control with emergency braking, rear collision warning and mitigation system, and LED fog lights with cornering function.
If the Dual Motor version is not quick enough, customers can opt for the Performance Pack. It boosts the power to 335 kW (455 hp) and adds Brembo brakes. New forged alloy wheels are part of the pack, together with the Öhlins DFV fully adjustable dampers. The compulsory yellow seat belts are part of the Performance Pack, together with various golden accents throughout the vehicle. Unfortunately, Polestar did not share the price for this pack - in Europe it comes at a $7,200 premium.
The 2024 Polesar 2 comes with a 5-star NHTSA rating, and the company confirmed that all versions qualify for the full IRA $7,500 Clean Vehicle Credit as long as they are leased. Unfortunately, due to their origin, they don’t qualify for it if purchased outright. All models require an additional $1,400 destination fee. First deliveries are scheduled for this summer, and order books are open as of right now.
The headline says "2024 Polestar 2 US pricing announced". The first paragraph reads "US pricing were missing from the announcement".
