Kia

Kia's upcoming EV3, a fully electric crossover is set to debut on May 23. With an estimated starting price of $32,000 in the US, it could become one of the most budget-friendly electric crossovers on the market.

This latest contender joins Kia's growing EV lineup, confirming the brand's continued commitment to electric vehicles. The production-ready EV3 stays true to the eye-catching, angular stylings revealed in its concept last year. It features a boxy design with striking front and rear lights, giving it a futuristic aesthetic. While Kia's new EV may resemble a smaller version of the existing EV9, it's unlikely to feature the same ultra-fast 800-volt charging system.

The EV3 is expected to offer a minimalist interior similar to that of the concept car. Although likely less spartan in the production model, Kia often incorporates traditional buttons and controls into their cabins, offering a welcome blend of old and new for car enthusiasts.

While Kia initially suggested exploring a US release for the EV3, recent reports indicate strong potential for the model to be assembled in Mexico. This could make the EV3 eligible for the US federal tax credit, which would be a considerable incentive for car buyers if confirmed.

While the EV3 is smaller than the popular Kia EV6, it's still a compact crossover with ample space and a strong feature set. With its head-turning looks and potential access to valuable incentives, it's an exciting new option for budget-conscious consumers looking to join the EV revolution. We'll know more on May 23rd when Kia reveals the EV3 in its entirety.

I kinda like the minimalist interior, but not too much. I want it to be modern, but not like I'm in a spaceship when I drive.

30,000 euro is now "budget-friendly"? If other companies won't step up to the task, China's cheap cars will certainly take over.
