Aiways

Aiways announces that it is expanding availability of its U5 SUV to four new markets across Europe. Those include Croatia, Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Slovenia. Aiways is a Shanghai-based company and the first Chinese electric vehicle startup to successfully market and operate in Europe.

We’ll continue to expand our presence in Europe with new markets and new product. Thanks to the investment and new members of the management board, we can accelerate the growth of our company in terms of digitalization, sales and, of course, brand awareness,” Dr. Alex Klose, VP of Overseas Operations at Aiways

Currently, the U5 SUV is available across Europe with a starting price of €38,990 before government incentives and it is around the same size class as the BMW iX3. It features a 63kWh battery providing a range of 410km (WLTP) with up to 90kW charging. The U5’s electric motor outputs 150kW and 310Nm of torque with 7.5s in the 0-100km/hr acceleration test. There are some areas where Aiways cut costs with the U5, such as having no built-in navigation system, though the vehicle’s infotainment does support Apple Car Play.

Aiways prepares to release its next vehicle later in 2022 across Europe, the U6 SUV-Coupe and expects to release at least one new vehicle model every calendar year in Europe.
