Citroen

Citroen has unveiled a refreshed version of its quirky Ami electric car for the 2025 model year. It sports a redesigned front end with larger, more expressive headlights and a new Citroen logo. The company also revealed a rugged concept car called the Ami Buggy Vision, which explores the Ami's potential for off-road adventures.

Since its launch in 2020, the Citroën Ami has carved a niche for itself as a fun and affordable urban mobility solution. With over 65,000 units sold, the tiny electric vehicle has proven popular with city dwellers looking for an easy way to get around. Now, Citroen is giving the Ami a mid-cycle refresh to keep it looking fresh and appealing.

The most noticeable change to the 2025 Ami is its new face. The headlights are larger and more prominent, giving the car a more expressive look. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned, and the new larger Citroen logo takes center stage.

In a playful nod to the iconic Citroen 2CV, the updated Ami features faux air vents on the front right and rear left fenders. These "gills" add a touch of retro charm to the otherwise modern design. The new wheel covers sport a checkerboard pattern with rounded corners, adding to the car's quirky personality.

While the Ami's exterior has received a makeover, its mechanicals remain unchanged. The 2025 Ami retains the same 8-horsepower electric motor and 5.5 kWh battery pack as its predecessor. This setup provides a range of approximately 47 miles – enough for short urban trips. Citroen has not yet announced pricing for the 2025 Ami, but it is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2025.

Alongside the updated Ami, Citroen also presented the Ami Buggy Vision concept car. This rugged and adventurous concept takes the Ami's quirky design in a new direction, imagining it as a beach-ready off-roader.

The Ami Buggy Vision features a striking midnight blue paint job with a contrasting white roof and black decals. Yellow-tinted headlights and chunky off-road tires give it a distinctive look. Instead of conventional doors, the concept has tubular metal bars, enhancing its open-air feel. A canvas sunroof further adds to the sense of freedom.

Citroen's designers have equipped the Ami Buggy Vision with special mounts for a kite surfboard on the tubular doors and a unique luggage compartment for storing the kite sail. The interior features quilted seat cushions and red upholstery, originally introduced on the Oli concept.

While the Ami Buggy Vision is currently just a concept, Citroen has hinted that a toned-down production version could be offered in the future. The previous My Ami Buggy proved popular with customers, prompting Citroen to increase its limited production run.
