Cybertruck deliveries halted due to faulty trim pieces

Tesla

Tesla Cybertruck is facing yet another setback in its short existence. This time, deliveries were abruptly halted due to issues with exterior trim pieces flying off the truck. Frustrated buyers are reporting delays and even cancellations, with Tesla delivery specialists citing a "containment hold" on the Cybertruck. This suggests Tesla is trying to address the problem before more vehicles reach customers, potentially avoiding a widespread recall.

The specific issue revolves around a decorative piece covering the roof ledge, called "centrail." Despite Tesla's claims of a "bulletproof" exoskeleton, the Cybertruck uses a cleverly disguised traditional unibody design. This means the majority of the visible body panels are actually attached trims, some of which appear to be less sturdy than advertised.

This isn't the first time the Cybertruck has faced trim-related problems. Last year, Tesla recalled approximately 11,000 Cybertrucks due to similar issues with detaching trims, attributing the problem to adhesive failures.

The current delivery hold began last weekend, with numerous buyers reporting canceled appointments and a lack of clarity regarding when they can expect their vehicles. Tesla has yet to issue a public statement or service bulletin regarding the current trim issue. The last service bulletin from February 26 detailed an issue where a circuit board could crack due to misalignment, leading to a power-off event.

Cybertruck deliveries halted due to a plague of trim trouble

Adding to the already many concerns, reports have surfaced regarding potential issues with Tesla's handling of service bulletins and recalls for the Cybertruck. Internal information suggests a "cell dent" problem in some Cybertruck battery packs surfaced as far back as last December, raising questions about the thoroughness of Tesla's quality control.

There is no doubt that the Cybertruck has generated a lot of headlines. Unfortunately, the constant issues with trim pieces and potential battery problems have soured the purchase for many owners. It's clear the truck doesn't quite live up to the hype, and the ongoing delays are likely to impact consumer confidence in the Cybertruck even further. That's quite the opposite of what Tesla needs right now.

2025 is very bad for Tesla. Between technical failures and very bad sales figures caused by Elon Musk political positions and constant false promises.
