Fiat

Fiat unveiled the upgraded E-Doblo and E-Ulysse, promising increased range, revamped safety tech, and a fresh design for their latest generation of people movers. Orders are set to kick off by the end of January in Italy and Austria, followed by a Europe-wide rollout.

The new E-Doblo boasts an abundance of interior space, providing flexibility for various loading configurations to cater to the diverse needs of everyday life. Its style upgrade includes a sleek front bumper, 17" alloy wheels, and electrically opening windows on two sliding doors, offering improved practicality and comfort.

Inside, the E-Doblo showcases versatility with three rear individual foldable seats, expanding the loading space to a capacious 123.6 ft³. The Magic TOP adds an extra layer of functionality, offering multifunctional space for storage. The E-Doblo's electric range has been increased up to 199 miles in the WLTP combined cycle.

Add to it the top speed of 84 mph and acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 11.2 seconds and we have a quite compelling electric commercial vehicle. The powerful Quick Charge system allows an 80% battery capacity recharge in a mere 30 minutes. Driving modes - Normal, Eco, and Power - provide options tailored to different scenarios, while regenerative braking levels can be adjusted to enhance range based on traffic and road conditions.

Safety and infotainment are not overlooked, with up to 17 passive and active driving safety systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control and a Uconnect 10'' Nav Infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ compatibility keep drivers connected safely.

The E-Ulysse, Fiat's foray into the full-electric "people mover" segment, showcases an improved electric range and modular interiors, making it an ideal choice for various transportation services. Two battery capacities - 50 kWh and 75 kWh - offer ranges of up to 139 miles and 217 miles, respectively.

Design-wise, the E-Ulysse introduces a new front fascia, eco LEDs, and a refreshed cockpit with integrated controls. The interiors are reconfigurable with up to nine seat configurations, making it a versatile choice for professionals and group transit services.

Safety features include Connected Intelligent Speed Assistance, Lane Keeping Assist, Advanced Emergency Braking System, and new side airbags. The E-Ulysse also integrates a 180° rear camera, Active Cruise Control, Side Parking Assist, and Blind Spot Detection, significantly enhancing safety. The Infotainment system boasts a large 10” HD touchscreen, voice assistant, and full Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity.

While Fiat's E-Doblo and E-Ulysse seem promising on paper, the electric vehicle market is a competitive arena. The devil, as always, is in the details, and only time will tell if Fiat's upgraded people movers can make the customers vote with their wallets.
