Renault

Modern car safety features have saved countless lives and keep getting better every year. They help prevent accidents, but sometimes, their implementation is so bad that it might do more harm than good, which is why many owners wonder if it’s possible to turn them off and how to do it if so.

We already did an article explaining why these features exist, but we will now focus on how to turn them off most effectively in particular vehicles over a series of articles. Each manufacturer has their own take on how to integrate the technology, so in this series we will focus on learning how to turn off distracting features on the Renault 5 E-Tech.

Turning off all assistant features at once in the Renault 5 E-Tech?

Yes, turning off all of the driver aids is possible with a simple double tap of a button. To the left of the steering wheel is a row of buttons, the furthest left of which is a stylized car in a circle. When you tap it twice, you activate "Perso" mode, or a personal setting where you have previously selected which assistants you want off.

You can select some on and some off and you can change those settings anytime through the options menu. We like to keep some on, but Renault gives you the option to switch each one quite easily. Your desired settings remain the same, unless you explicitly change them.

This is a very clever way for Renault to bypass the strict regulations and still offer clients a way to enjoy a peaceful ride. This integration is the best thing after permanent shut-off, which is sadly no longer possible in any modern vehicle.

This series tells you how to easily and successfully turn on or off the assistant features of modern vehicles, which is something that becomes increasingly complicated due to modern regulations!

TBH, this is one of the best Dacia / Renault features they come up with. I really do like a lot of assistance during my drive, but it has to work ... I often travel on smaller roads with no markings where are a bit sharper turns and lane keep is of...
