Hyundai's Ioniq 9, a three-row electric SUV, was officially unveiled at the LA Auto Show last month. Now, it seems Hyundai is planning to expand the Ioniq 9 lineup with an off-road-focused XRT trim.

Spy photos have surfaced showing a camouflaged Ioniq 9 sporting features characteristic of the XRT line. These include all-terrain tires, black rugged bumpers and extra trim on fenders, a front winch, and a raised suspension. Hyundai's Head of Design, Simon Loasby, hinted at the development of both N and XRT variants during the Ioniq 9's debut.

The Ioniq 9 XRT will take after the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT. This model boasts several rugged upgrades, such as red tow hooks, black side sills, and unique XRT design elements, plus it has a slightly raised suspension for light off-roading.

In terms of dimensions, the Ioniq 9 measures 199.2 inches long, 78 inches wide, and 70.5 inches tall. It is slightly shorter than the Rivian R1S but comparable in size to the Kia EV9, which shares the same E-GMP platform.

The standard version will come equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated EPA range of 335 miles. The long-range RWD model, powered by a 160 kW rear motor, can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 9.4 seconds. The Performance trim with an additional 160 kW front motor achieves the same sprint in 5.2 seconds.

Hyundai plans to launch the Ioniq 9 in the US and Korea in the first half of 2025, with a global rollout to follow. Pricing details for the Ioniq 9 and the XRT trim have yet to be announced but will be revealed closer to the launch date.
